Just to the west of the University area, sitting in the North part of Charlotte is a neighborhood called "Mallard Creek". This has become for the most part a typical American suburban dwelling for the average family.
Mallard Creek is bordered by the city of Concord, North Carolina in Cabarrus County to the North, I-85 to the East, I-77 to the West, and WT Harris Boulevard (the main strip of the University area) to the South.
There's lots of newer homes (i.e. around the 0 to 15 year range). Lots of strip malls. Nothing terribly exciting other than the homes or shopping centers. There are lots of neighborhoods in the area. One of the nicer ones is Highland Creek. In fact part of this community still sits in the city of Concord.
As for Mallard Creek - well there is a Mallard Creek. It sits in the Southern part of the neighborhood. It's a small creek and it hasn't flooded as often as other creeks in the area.
Today's Song: Advice for the Young at Heart - Tears For Fears
While Roland Orzabal often is recognized as the "voice" for Tears For Fears, it is also important to know that Curt Smith is an equal contributor. Perhaps one of the best songs done by Curt is "Advice For the Young at Heart". The song has a feel of South Florida to it, but I wouldn't say its reggae or calypso. Still there is a slight Miami Beat. Combine this with smooth vocals, this was a a great product. This 1989 song from "The Seeds of Love" did get some airplay, but never got the promotion it should have gotten by the record company.
