America's Governor

On Election Day, I think it's time to give Ed Rendell his due props. He perhaps is my favorite politician in the world.

By the time you ready this, New Jersey will once again elect another Democrat in office and one Jon Corzine will be the Governor-Elect. I'm a Republican. I vote down the line Republican and I'm proud of it. But surprisingly, I'd vote for Ed Rendell over 99% of the Republicans. The amazing thing is - Ed Rendell is a Democrat! He is perhaps the only Democat I would vote for.

Rendell has proven himself time and time again. He was perhaps the Greatest Mayor in Philadelphia's history. When he was the DNC Chairman, he favored the Bush-Gore recount. He also told Gore that when the recount was over, he should accept the decision. When the recount didn't go Gore's way, Gore still considered another one. It was Rendell who realized that this country must move on and persuaded Gore to concede. Gore did and then the brilliant Democrats forced Rendell out as DNC Chairman.

But Rendell would go on to bigger and better things. In 2002, he would be elected Governor of Pennsylvania. And this past weekend, Rendell made history again.

SEPTA was on strike. Both sides were at a stalemate. Enter one Edward Rendell on Sunday night. Rendell would broker a deal and make perform a miracle. And where was Philadelphia Mayor John Street - most believe he was sleeping. He probably was - one way or another. Street did a horrible job and did nothing to try to solve the strike. Rendell realized how important this was - and he got the job done.

I'm jealous. I want Ed Rendell to be NJ's Governor. Perhaps he will run for President in 2008 and save us from Hillary.

NaNoWriMo Update
Here is an exerpt from Chapter 3 of my Novel "Best Friends". This is a scene between Tom and Paul - two of the main characters:

Paul then said, “Did you ever get married? Kids”

“Married. Nope. And that was probably the one smart thing I did with my life. I couldn’t inflict a monster like myself on some beautiful woman. Kids. Who knows? There may be a Tom Mullady Jr. out there somewhere. It wouldn’t surprise me. It also wouldn’t surprise me if his mother told him what fuckin asshole his father was.”

“Tom. I’m hear because I want to help you, but you know the more I talk to you, the more I believe in you”

”I can’t figure out why man. But you know I haven’t had many breaks in my life and I’m not gonna throw away a good chance. I mean…look at YOU” as Tom would point to the watch.

“So what’s next?” asked Tom.

Today's Song: I'm Feeling You by Santana with Michelle Branch

For his last two albums, Carlos Santana has decided to collaborate (for the most part) with contemporary artists doing what he does best - jamming on his guitar. The formula has been hugely successful producing two of the great songs in recent years - "Smooth" with Rob Thomas and "The Game of Love" with Michelle Branch. For "The Game of Love", there was a definite chemistry between Branch and Santana in the song. Therefore, the duo returns on Santana's new album "All That I Am". Many feel this album isn't up to par with his prior albums under this recent formula he has employed "Supernatural" and "Shaman". I tend to agree somewhat - the collaborations aren't as strong, however Carlos' "solo" stuff is better. As for the collaborations, once again the Santana-Branch connection is the one that shines. While again not as strong a song as "The Game of Love", this is still a good song and you will hear Santana's guitar jamming. This song definitely will outshine the other collaborations on his latest album.
